About Megumi Maria Loy

I draw, I play, I doodle around, so I thought maybe I'll show some of it. Since I got married and became mother, I didn't have that much time to put into my arts, but growing as a person is something that started to give my drawings another kind of life. I was born in Japan, grew up in Germany (in Hamburg, most beautiful city in the world to me!) and continued living here because I really enjoy my homelands. Both of them. I learned japanese from my mother, so I started to work as translator, and the differences of cultures became one of my favorite topics. Did you know, that in Europe, you let the "ladies go first", because the assassins would attack from the rear, while in Japan, the ladies go behind the husband because the enemy would strike from the front? So, the japanese women back then really didn't want to go first. My mother used to get SO upset when my father let her go through a door before him... I can laught about that now, but cultural backgrounds are as tricky as they are interesting.
Well, aside from translating, I spend most of my days from childhood on with drawing. I must have used up tons of paper by now, and another one lies in my basement waiting for me to besmear it. Or my kids. Who ever is faster.
Did you know that the heart of a sparrow beats in it's lifetime about as often as the heart of an elefant in the elefant's? Did I mention my hobby of collecting knowledge noone needs? That I do with pleasure, because you can't always smalltalk about the weather, can you?
